East Lansing? When LSU and Alabama play tonight in the BCS Championship Game, there will be at least one person at Michigan State who will be pulling hard for the Crimson Tide.
Basketball coach Tom Izzo said on Monday that he is pulling for his friend and former Michigan State coach Nick Saban to avenge an earlier loss to the Tigers.
"After watching the first game, which I did, I think Alabama outplayed them," Izzo said. "Even though I think LSU is great, I'm still a Nick Saban guy. I think Alabama is going to win and I hope Alabama wins."
Izzo and Saban became close when Saban coached the Spartans from 1995-99 and have remained close since. Izzo said he thinks Saban will make the necessary moves this time around when Alabama faces its SEC rival and doesn't expect a repeat of the defensive battle the teams had in early November.
"I feel like he'll make some adjustments on some things," Izzo said, "but these are two real good teams. It would have been interesting to see those guys work through a playoff -- I'm still into that mode. I think the two best teams are playing and I think it will be a different game, I don't think it will be a 9-6 game."
